Observations in the World: 7/25/17

DAY 2 – SPACE

During the remainder of the day, observe and make note (words, symbols, photos) of the pathway(s) of another person traveling through space.  This can be something that you observe live or that you see on film/TV. Be prepared to demonstrate what you observed and to describe the context in which it occurred.

I decided to look at basketball player traveling.  In the clip below (4:00), Lebron James grabs the ball from another player, travels (running) on a short straight pathway right, zig-zags (quick change of direction) left, and continues straight down to the left corner of the court, with a slight curve right.  Then there is what looks like a short straight pathway with a bit of a weight shift left and then shifting right to run on a slight curve counterclockwise toward the hoop.  The ball is in the sagittal plane until it moves into the vertical plane as he shoots the basket.
